History

In 1962, Jack Farr saw an opportunity to make something of the expertise he had built up in local government engineering by leaving the Toowoomba City Council and setting up in private practice.

Several years later, he was joined by Ern Evrat (then Deputy City Engineer at Toowoomba City Council).

Together, Jack and Ernie developed Farr and Evrat, Consulting Engineers, into a significant regional consulting firm, designing a number of major infrastructure projects in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

By 1988, the lure of “Freezing Farm” (Jack) and the golf course (Ernie) became too much. Jack and Ernie retired and the business was taken over by new partners Tony Loveday, Paul Evrat, and David Lord.

Farr Evrat developed and expanded, seeking new markets and opportunities. In 1994, the consulting practice of DJ Brown and Partners was acquired. This acquisition added building services and cost and project planning expertise to the Farr Evrat team. Paul Evrat left the practice in early 1999 to pursue other interests.

In 2005, the practice merged with John Maclean and Associates to enhance our strengths and contacts in subdivisions.

Today, with a staff of 25 and offices in Toowoomba and Brisbane, Farr Evrat Engineers Pty Ltd is an energetic and innovative multi-disciplinary consulting engineering practice.
